As legislators, news outlets, and Utahns have studied, discussed, and debated the creation of a medical cannabis program in our state misrepresentations and low quality information about the medicinal properties of cannabis have been stated and repeated on both sides of the issue. In response to this and claims that cannabis has "no accepted medical value", the Drug Policy Project of Utah has collected research on the therapeutic use of cannabis as well as the policy implications of establishing a medical cannabis program in the State of Utah.
These documents summarize and provide citation for recent research on using cannabis to treat a wide-variety of conditions and symptoms. Research does not indicate that cannabis is a cure to any medical conditions. These documents are meant to be used as an educational tool to further fact-based discussions of the health benefits of establishing a medical cannabis program in the State of Utah.
Please feel free to use these documents for that purpose with attribution to the Drug Policy Project of Utah.
