September 2015 Medical Cannabis Update

September was a very busy month here at the Drug Policy Project of Utah. Earlier this month we launched a petition drive across the State of Utah to gather 25,000 signatures by the end of the year. We have been all across the State of Utah growing support for and engaging Utahns in critical discussions about medical cannabis. We visited both Provo and Moab Pride this month where we met amazing people who are all engaged in our work.

To prepare our supporters and volunteers for a large undertaking like this, we held our first volunteer and activist training session on September 11th.  This petition is vital for demonstrating the broad support required to demonstrate that Utahns all across the state support safe access to medical cannabis.

As part of our effort to define what a good medical cannabis program in Utah will look like our Board President Turner C. Bitton announced our 10 key principles that medical cannabis legislation must include to get our endorsement. Read the article in the Leaf Online to learn more.

We have begun a full-scale legislative effort that includes meeting with leadership in both houses of the legislature as well as various stakeholders in the community to begin the process of building a coalition capable of creating a robust medical cannabis program.

Financing this work is not easy and it requires your investment. Will you support the local movement for medical cannabis by making a contribution of $10 today?
